Five Reasons You Feel Lost in You Wellness Journey

Hi Ladies,

I know it has been a while since the last time I checked in. During this time I have been finding my way on my wellness journey and creating new ways I can serve others on their journey. I have overcome personal barriers, as I continue to set new goals in my wellness journey. As a healthcare provider, I also have the privilege of working with patients on a daily basis to overcome their barriers. My experience has allowed me the opportunity to identify the top five reasons why most people feel lost in their wellness journey. I can’t wait to share this information with you. Let’s get to it.

External Noise:

When you are on your wellness journey, it is common to share your goals with others and get their opinion. Sometimes when friends and family share their experiences and what worked for them, they can assume that it will work for you. Creating a plan that works for you will sometimes mean you have to cancel out the external noise. Dig deep within to consider your likes and dislikes; your food preferences; and your medical history. Create a plan that works for you.

Unrealistic Goals:

Setting unrealistic goals will most likely cause unnecessary pressure and make the wellness journey harder. While on your wellness journey, it is important to be realistic about what daily practices you can commit to that will help you achieve your wellness goals. Setting realistic goals does not mean don't challenge yourself. It is simply a suggestion to consider how you can achieve your goals in a healthy, sustainable manner.

Overextending Yourself:

As women, we wear many hats. Many of us are wives, mothers, trailblazers, and the backbone of our families. Sometimes being there for everyone else doesn't leave much room for you to achieve your goals. We have discussed before the power of saying NO and now is the perfect time to implement this principle. Before you can save anyone else, you have to save yourself and that may mean setting boundaries - sticking to those boundaries even if it is met with resentment.

Inconsistency:

Being consistent can be as simple as creating a routine and sticking to it even if you don't feel like it. I, too, struggle with consistency. When I fail, I hold myself accountable, and I make the necessary changes needed to get back on track. Create and be consistent in your sleep routine; diet; exercise regimen; and stress management to see the best result and make progress in your wellness journey,

Putting the Pieces Together:

Even with the best intentions and completing your own research, it can be hard to put the pieces together. So many of you might be wondering what the best way to put the pieces together is. I want you to know it is ok to reach out to a professional to help you put the pieces together. If you are struggling on your mental health journey, it can be useful and for most, essential to hire a therapist to help you. When you are on your wellness journey, don't hesitate to invest in your health and hire a professional who understands and can advise on a specific routine created just for you, to help you reach your wellness goals.

Realizing you are lost in your wellness journey does not have to mean that you will remain lost. You are not a victim, and it is not too late to take back control. Find your reason why; be honest with yourself; don't give up on yourself; and most importantly invest in yourself. If you are not seeing the results you desire; feel like it is time for a change; or desire a better quality of life after a recent diagnosis; make a decision to put your wellness goals first. Choose wellness, choose you, and Make Wellness your Best Accessory!

Lauren
